EXPERIENCE

Instructional Designer & Adjunct Instructor
Northeast Iowa Community College,  Peosta, IA Jul 2020 - Present

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have developed and facilitated professional development activities for faculty pertaining to learning theory, effective use of instructional technology tools, high impact practices, accessibility, and policy compliance.

I also serve as a consultant to interdisciplinary faculty with regard to course design, development of program and course level assessments that help students achieve learning outcomes. Additionally, I provide frontline user support (synchronously and asynchronously) for our Brightspace D2L learning management system and platform integrations on behalf of our staff, students, and faculty.

Success Model Coordinator & Adjunct Instructor
Northeast Iowa Community College,  Dubuque, IA Jul 2019 - Jul 2020

While retaining all prior position responsibilities, I was asked to help promote best practices for serving students across Business and Community Solutions career pathway certificate programming. As Coordinator of the Success Model, I assumed responsibility for administrative, supervisory, data tracking/analyses/monitoring and organizational support for NICC Success Model Programming and Career Pathway Certificates (CPCs).

Enrollment Advisor & Adjunct Instructor
Northeast Iowa Community College,  Dubuque, IA Jun 2017 - Jul 2019

Working out of NICC's Dubuque Center, I offered one-stop admissions, intake, financial aid, registration, career exploration, and success coaching services for community college students, High School Equivalency Diploma students, and career pathway certificate students in the heart of downtown Dubuque. I served as lead Academic Advisor for four of the college's academic associate's degree programs, including our Z-Degree 8-Week online Associate of Arts program, and teach up to six online U.S. History and Political Science courses for the college annually.

Assistant Professor of History and Government & LEADS Campus Liaison
Howard College,  Big Spring, TX Aug 2014 - Jul 2017

I taught United States History and Government courses across online, ITV, hybrid, flex, and face to face course formats. My course load hovered around 250 students per semester and was comprised of a mix of dual-credit high school students, traditional on-campus and commuter students, NJCAA athletes, and working adults. I utilized a robust technology component across all sections, measured and tracked SLO/PO results for my department, and used my own video lectures to flip classroom learning. My online courses focused on improving student essay writing and are attuned to Quality Matters standards for excellence in online learning. (Though I left the full-time position in 2017, I continue to serve as an adjunct U.S. History instructor for Howard College, teaching six concurrent high school sections online each year).

In addition to my History and Government teaching responsibilities I also served as LEADS Campus Liaison. Howard College LEADS (Learn, Experience, Achieve Defined Success) is a comprehensive first-year experience program consisting of academic instruction, student engagement, and community involvement. I trained, supported, and advised all campus staff and faculty serving as Coaches and Mentors in the retention-focused program.

Student Success Coach & Adjunct Instructor
Odessa College,  Odessa, TX Jul 2011 - May 2014

I served as an academic advisor in the campus Help Center; taught a full load of online and face-to-face sections of the COLL 0171 Strategies for Success course to incoming Odessa College freshmen; experimented with data-driven processes to improve new student retention rates; mentored students assigned suspension status; worked to technologize both our Coll 0171 curriculum and campus advising processes; and worked closely with campus administration to conceptualize, organize, and implement faculty advising at Odessa College.

In addition to my regular assignment I taught hybrid, evening sections of United States History I and II.

Graduate Assistant, University Writing Center
UW-Eau Claire,  Eau Claire, WI Aug 2009 - Jul 2011

I trained writing fellows in interdisciplinary and ESOL courses; served as ENGL 397 teaching assistant and CRLA trainer; mentored first-year writing assistants; developed and managed satellite writing centers; offered specialized writing assistance for online students and students with disabilities; and organized and led all writing center staff meetings.
